Voxygen is a communications technology design and development company that was founded in 2008 by Dean Elwood. Our work spans product conception through to development and ongoing support, with primary focus on our clients’ commercial opportunities.
We are astute at identifying new areas of growth to help keep your business at the forefront of your market. We conceive fresh solutions by combining research and analysis, agile software development, innovative technology and creative design thinking. This joined-up approach enables us to develop ground-breaking user-friendly communications products, to streamline support processes, drive sales and develop new ways for you to monetise your network. We draw our expertise from an experienced team with diverse backgrounds.
Several of the technologies we have created have been filed as patents and we have an extensive and growing collection of white label products ready for you to ship to customers.
Our clients range from start-ups to global brands.
Dean brings a unique perspective and creative edge to the world of communications. After a successful career in commercial law, he jumped into the world of telecoms by creating an experimental GSM-based VoIP network. He is a self-taught software engineer and telecoms expert and loves nothing more than to experiment and bring ideas to life.
Dean founded Voxygen in 2008, and has built an impressive customer list as well as a powerful intellectual property portfolio. Voxygen helps its clients to realise voice as a premium revenue driver rather than a commoditised, low-margin service.
Before founding Voxygen, Dean served as Platform Director of Truphone, a mobile VoIP network operator based in London. There he developed the first Facebook in-browser voice application, defined the company’s platform strategy and worked with outside companies to broaden the awareness of the company.
Dean’s 2001 GSM experiment evolved into VoIP User, and online community for VoIP and back-end voice network that served over 80,000 users worldwide using a unique funding model that has never been repeated. VoIP User has had many lessons to learn about building robust voice networks and countermeasures to fraud, and Dean is a respected expert in these areas.
Dean was elected to the council of The Internet Telephony Service Providers Association in August 2010. He is a patented inventor, holding patents in the UK and internationally.

Voxygen is a company that believes in nurturing its own talent by providing opportunities for students to work part time as permanent employees while studying. Our internship programme is designed around accepting students from different disciplines and providing an opportunity to explore as many areas of technology as we can possibly expose them to.
Our interns are involved in many of the tasks going on within the company, including project management, development, testing, and hardware/software integration. We mentor our interns and expect them to be curious, innovate and contribute ideas. We are a young company and our culture is created by all of our staff.
We aim to show our interns some of everything that we do, so that they leave with an increased understanding of the cloud, distributed communications systems and agile teams.
